So, my second Thanksgiving of 2005 is over. We had a really great day together. I hesitate to say this because it makes me look un-tradionally-wifey, but we bought our dinner (sorry, Reba, my Martha Stewart like friend). We bought this box at Publix - for $30 we got a vat of mashed potatoes, an equal sized vat of corn bread stuffing, a giant tub of gravy, a small tub of cranberry/orange relish and a turkey breast (which was so huge it looked like a whole turkey). The breast was precooked, and the rest was not. So all we had to do was put everything into oven safe containers and cook the whole thing for one and one half hours, nuke the gravy and scarf it all down. It was GOOD! We could probably not have made the whole thing for as cheap, and if we had made it from scratch, I would be exhausted and grumpy. So this was perfect for us. I had never had cornbread stuffing before and it was almost as good as my mom's home made stuffing. And everything else was good too...except I thought that the turkey was a bit rubbery. Paul loved it though. Then we bought a chocolate pecan pie for dessert. I warmed my piece in the microwave a little and then put french vanilla ice cream on it. *DROOL*
We fed Smeagol some turkey too, and then we all three sat around like beached whales. Paul was talking like that wheelchair guy on Malcolm In The Middle "I...should...*deep breath*...take...up...*deep breath*...bulemia...n-...now". We watched The Ref, which is one of my favourite movies and then watched The Golden Child, which I'm not actually sure if I had ever seen before. Lazuli, if I remember correctly, I think that may be a fave of yours? Paul quoted almost the entire movie as we watched it.
And after that I gave him 'permission' to go play WoW, so now he's happy too. May I just say Thank God for dishwashers? There was SUCH a mess in the kitchen from all our food (even premade, we still required a lot of dishes), but I still got it all cleaned up in 30 minutes with the help of the dishwasher (and the garbage disposal didn't hurt either). Sweet. Now its late and quiet, and I'm tired, but not feeling as bad as I have been. I bought a Glamour magazine at the grocery store yesterday, so I think I'm gonna give a quick tidy to the apartment, empty the dishwasher and then tuck into bed with my magazine.
I'm looking forward to having (hopefully) kids and grandkids someday so we can tell them about our first Thanksgiving together.
It was a nice day :)

Sure glad the two of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Dad and I went to dinner at Auntie Mary's house (Uncle Jim, niece Angie and her boyfriend Ron and nephew Jim who has a shared birthdate with Paul but 6 or so years younger, but he also collects swords/knives like Paul so I wonder if it has something to do with being born on April 15th, which in USA, is our income tax day which everybody hates/dreads, so maybe collecting the swords/knives is their way of saying up yours to the tax people) and then we came home and Friday I cooked a bird so we have leftover turkey to eat till our hearts' content and on Saturday Auntie Mary is coming over with the above-mentioned people and I'm cooking ham steaks for them with the green bean casserole that I didn't get to make and a box of stuffing and salad and pecan bars from a box. Whew!!!! That's a long sentence!!! Hope everything went well with Paul's hiring and let us know, or him let us know, how it goes. Thankx, luv Mom2
I love The Golden Child :) It's cheesy and 80's but I think it's hysterical. I'm so glad you had a memorable (in a good way!) Thanksgiving!
