That Russian Dressing Recipe

I have been asked to post the recipe that I mentioned earlier this week that calls for Russian Dressing. It is ridiculously simple and sounds ridiculously weird, but I am the pickiest person on earth and I like it, so it must be okay.

Mix:
1 bottle Russian Dressing
1 jar Apricot Jelly ( I hate apricots, but you can't taste em)
1 packet Shake and Bake (any type you want, I usually use the basic chicken coating type)

Pour over chicken, bake! Done!

I usually make rice too and pour the sauce that hasn't been absorbed by the chicken over the rice.

In my recipe book this is listed as "Weird Sauce for Chicken"

By the way, another easy chicken sauce is "Icky Sticky Chicky" (I know :p). For that one you just mix:
1 cup of ketchup
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 tablespoons Soya Sauce

Then pour over chicken and bake. (My sister also makes this sauce for over farmer sausage and bakes the whole thing, I would love to do that but they don't have farmer sausage down here either) These two sauces and a couple more that I have are so so simple, but taste so good that they are my staple dishes. I made the Icky Sticky for my men yesterday and they gushed with how good it was. That combined with the peanut butter cookies I made, made for a happy little family :)

(Editors Note: Reba, I made that Spaghetti Squash recipe from your site for my man and he flipped for it. Now he wants me to make a rutabaga, any suggestions what to do with that?
Andra: We have purchased an Acorn Squash as per your suggestions, just haven't made it yet!)

Just heard from other people that here in teh states, russian dressing is the same as Catalina. You might want to look at it, and see. I have never had either, just heard they are same or similar. Randy

Reba even makes turnips sound good. And your weird sauce for chicken sounds v tasty! I saw a recipe for chicken just yesterday that calls for it to be coated with caesar dressing then rolled in shake'n'bake. 'Marge, your cooking only has two moves...'

Well, good news all around on the Russian dressing front ;) I have been told now that it may be the same as Catalina or also a Tangy Tomato type. I am also told by my roommate that Russian Dressing is possible to get at specialty stores. Reba, the rutabaga with bacon sounds good, I think I'll try that for Paul. Thanks all!

Also, the Russian dressing may appear on shelves here in the states as "Western" dressing. And I'm going to try your chicken sauces and I have one for you but not the exact ingredients here at the 'puter. But it's melted butter, honey and mustard, poured over the chicken and baked in the oven. It's good. Mom2

I'd love that recipe, Mom. I'm always looking for more interesting ways to make chicken.

I would be surprised if Catalina be the same as Russian. Kraft makes both flavours here, so one would think there is some difference.
