Toot! Toot!

You know, I've been making an effort lately to tell people when I am proud of them because I know how incredible it feels when someone tells you that they are proud of you and means it.

But, I never say it to myself. Instead, I tend to think about how I'm 33 and I have nothing to my name but debts and a divorce decree instead of a savings account and a university degree. But you know what? I AM proud of myself. Yeah, I haven't accomplished much yet to a stranger's eyes, but I have accomplished things.

I've accomplished going through so many standard 'bad experiences' that I can commiserate with almost anyone regarding what they are going through.

I've accomplished finding a wonderful man who treats me so well even after going through hell with past romantic partners (and if you don't think that's a heck of an accomplishment, you probably married your elementary school sweetheart).

I've accomplished (well, working on it) getting over some hideous non-romantic relationships that I thought would scar me for life. Instead of scarring me they are making me stronger.

And, I've accomplished the incredible task of stopping to take anti-depressants. Again, if you don't think that that's a life altering, heart-stopping accomplishment, then you've never tried it :)

Me = Proud

You should be proud of yourself, regardless of how big or little your accomplishments are. That is what encourages you to try MORE things. Great job on all fronts, my dear.

What a wonderful post to find on your page! I'd say I'm so proud of you but in context is not appropriate :) I'll think it very quietly! Congratulations from the bottom of my heart.

Hey, we here are proud of you, too! Proud of you whether you accomplish anything or not. And at 33, you're still young! You probably have another two-thirds of your lifespan left. Think of all you can accomplish over the next 66 or so years! Mom2
