Bad Stuff - I have such a bad case of the flu. My joints are all aching, I can't breathe and I just generally feel like poo. And because my body is SO GREAT, it always thinks that when I'm sick, I should stay awake until the illness is over. I slept two hours last night and 0 hours the night before. Today at around noon, Paul got up and I woke up and thought 'hey, I've been sleeping for two whole hours and I'm still fairly sleepy'. Pleased, I rolled over to go back to sleep and at that exact moment the power began cutting in and out. We sleep with a very loud fan on to block out outside noises and it kept rushing back to life and then off again. After a minute or two of that, the power went out all together. We determined that it was out in our whole complex, thus there was nothing we could do about it, so we lay on the bed with Smeagol and chatted. The power was out for THREE HOURS! It's not storming or anything, by the way. Eventually, Paul had to get ready for work, so he showered by candlelight and then I held a flashlight on him so he could do his hair and stuff. I'm so tired and sick that I kept bursting into random fits of hysterical laughter that made Paul back away from me slowly. The power just came back on, thank goodness, cause its 90/30 and really really hot! Anyway, I couldn't sleep cause of the power loss and now its already 3:30 so I'm gonna try and stay awake til bedtime and hope that sleep comes tonight. And don't even suggest NyQuil to me, cause I took some two nights ago and that was when I didn't sleep at all. (As proof of my not sleeping I offer you the knowledge that I'm already partway through the fifth Harry Potter book and I just started at one again last Monday...I guess I won't have trouble finishing in time for the next one after all!)
Good Stuff - My back is very slowly, but just as surely, getting better. I'm still trying to be very careful with bending and lifting and such, but it is definitely getting better.
Other Good Stuff - My friend Barb, from Winnipeg, sent me a mysterious email about a week ago saying that I should track a package on UPS. I tracked it and found that it was being delivered to me! What could it be?! I got it yesterday (couldn't have come on a better day) and it was...CANADIAN SNACKS!!! Ketchup Crispers, Old Dutch Zesty Taco chips, Coffee Crisp and Mr. Big bars and Kraft Mac And Cheese - the cheese and tomato kind. The food was exactly right but was really tertiary to the fact that A) Barb thought of me and cared enough to spend money and time on me and paid attention when I mentioned what I missed and B) the stuff even SMELLED like Canada! And seeing 'Diner KRAFT Dinner' on my mac and cheese boxes made me nearly weep with combined happiness and nostalgia. Barb sent along a note that wished me 'Happy Christmas in July' and I was really absolutely touched by what she did for me. Thank you so much, Barb. You are an amazing friend :)
Yet More Good Stuff - 18 sleeps til my family comes to visit me!
Sorry I'm so moody lately, thanks for still tuning in. *smooches* all around!

How awesome to get a package of goodies like that!!!! Hope you are able to get some sleep, hon. I'm mighty tired today, since my son can't sleep past 6:15 am or something, and since it's LIGHT OUT he decides it's time to get up for good. I gotta get room darkening stuf or something, he won't even sleep in on weekends!!! Or, snuggle up in bed with me to go back to sleep. ANYWAY! Enjoy your Canadian snacks!
My wife took Nighttime Nyquil ONE time - I had to sleep on the couch because she was singing in her sleep (and she can't carry a tune in a bucket).
I know what you mean about the food. People think I'm wierd, but whenever I go to Canada (I've been to Vancouver and Victoria lots of times, Edmonton 2x, Calgary 3x) I love to go grocery shopping. There really are different foods in the stores! It's fun! Besides, I think it's fun to get stuff with French labels. I love it, maybe because it's just different enough to feel out of sync.
Get well,
Jack
