Hi Hi

I've been really lax with updating lately. My content seems to have gone downhill quality-wise so my desire to post has gone downhill with it. But, I shall regale you with the tales of my birthday.

Paul had Wednesday and Thursday off as usual. Tuesday night we had a couple of friends over (his friends, but I like them too so can I say I have friends now?) and stayed up really, really late. It was awesome cause Paul actually wanted to talk a bit and no one ever wants to converse as much as I do. We chatted and watched "Failure To Launch" and generally had a good time. For some reason, neither of us could sleep at that point and Paul had to drop something off at work sometime that day, so at 9am we drove on down to the restaurant and I got to see the kitchen and office and stuff for the first time. Then we did a couple of other errands and went home to sleep.

The rest of the day was pretty low key and Thursday we slept in til like 4 pm again and when I woke up there was a phone birthday message and a couple of emails and eCards (thanks everyone!) and some flowers from my mom and sisters :) Later in the evening, Paul and I met two of his friends from work for drinks and had a really nice time. (Of the people that I have met so far in Atlanta, those two girls would be the most likely candidates for friendship, I think) The place we went to is kind of known for its drinks, so, even though I rarely drink, I had a Caribbean Cosmopolitan and it was yummy!

Paul was very sweet to me and we had a really nice evening. The eCard he sent was adorable too. It was a fairly difficult birthday all told though. My mom and sisters bought me gifts that I picked out when they were here, which was great and so sweet of them, but it was a month ago, so it kind of pales now. That meant that I didn't get to open any gifts or physical cards (although this may be the fault of the post office, they screw up our address A LOT). Its no big deal at all, after all, I am 34, its not a milestone year or anything, but growing up we always made a huge deal about birthdays so I did feel a bit sad with no cards or gifts to open. But, Andra and Bernice and my mom in law all say they have sent cards and they are just not here yet...so next week should be fun mail days! My sister Shari was mentioning that for about the past decade she has mostly just been glad when her birthday was over and I definitely feel that way this year. Its like New Year's Eve; you always want it to be GREAT and when its not, you're let down. But if January 1st (or in this case, August 25th) is a craphole, it doesn't matter.

Today is shaping up to be a bit bad as Paul is still sick in bed. He was feeling poorly already yesterday and today he actually had to call in sick to work (which sucks cause it was his first training-for-manager day). He's all shivery and hot to the touch and has been moaning much of the night in his sleep. I've been feeding him Advil and lots of water, so hopefully he feels better. Truth be told, I'm actually a bit worried about his health for several reasons.

Anyway, 4 months til Christmas, have you started your shopping yet?!
