Babysitting Day

So, little S. has been here for about 3 hours now. I don't know much about autism so I asked her mom a lot of questions, but S. is perfectly behaved. Her mom brought 3 movies and several toys and lots of snacks so she is pretty much self contained. I have tried playing with her several times but she doesn't seem interested in that and doesn't seem to like it when I touch her. But, if I sit and watch her movie or watch her play for a while, then every 10 minutes or so she will come up and give me a big hug. She doesn't speak but if she needs something she lets me know by taking my hand and leading me to what she needs. It's extremely cute. I was worried too that I might not know when she needed a new pull-up, but she just yanks the old one off when its dirty, so that's easy! Mostly, she just walks around carrying something that she likes and making her little noises.

That is the only minor problem, actually. She doesn't say words but she almost constantly makes little beeping noises or the kind of horsey noise that you make with your lips, you know? It's really sweet, but Smeagol has always had a problem with that sound. Paul and I do it sometimes to make her crazy and it does...so Smeagol is a bit concerned that S. makes that sound all the time. S. just completely ignores Smee though, so that works. For a while Smee and S. were both in my lap on the couch, it was heaven.

S. is so good and so unwanting and unneeding of my attention that I may even be able to get some of my work for my sister's boss done at the same time (that's mostly making phone calls and making lists, all I really need is two minutes of quiet while I'm on the phone and S.'s noises aren't loud). I don't want to deprive S. of my attention, but she really doesn't seem to want it.

Making money, even a bit, rules! My plan is to use any money that I make by babysitting for stuff for me or for the house or for necessities that we can't afford in a bad month. But the bulk of the money, the money that I make from sis's boss, I am going to put straight into debt reduction. Every dollar. Who knows how long this will last, so I'm gonna pay things off while I can.

Yech, I still want to write about our mini trip to Tennessee, but I don't have the creative energy to make it sound as interesting and fun as it really way...so another time.

See, I'm glad babysitting worked out for you and that you'll have some money to throw around. Even if you do put it all towards debt, that's a goood thing. Any clue why your last two posts didn't show in my feed reader? *scratches head*

Jenna - I dunno...I don't actually, technically know what a feed reader is :) Although, I can almost guarantee that it is some sort of issue with the fact that I have switched to Blogger Beta which is RIDDLED with bugs.

And, I just updated my link to your site so that's done too :)
