Now, A Request.

I need several recipes. I could surely find them online, but would prefer something tried and tested by my lovely friends or readers.

I wanna good meatloaf recipe.

Paul has requested Banana Bread. (He says "I don't like ones with nuts in them, tell them 'no nuts!' ")

And ginger root was on sale at the store so I bought a big one...what should I do with it?

In many things that I cook (paritcularly Indian or Thai food), I'll cut up an inch or so piece and shred it on the grater and throw it in with sauteeing onions and garlic. I find shredding it leaves me holding a dry and thready piece that wouldn't be much fun to bite into, so I toss that piece, and the rest dissolves into the dish.

Oh nice, both good ideas. I was thinking of making a curry dish for the ginger.

And I will try the banana bread in a few days when the bananas are ready. Thanks so much!!

Ooh, now I see that Gin And Soda has a banana bread recipe too. Fight!

Aw geez, now I see that Gin and Soda has a meatloaf recipe too. Sorry, Reba, I'm dumb! However, I prolly won't use that meatloaf recipe as it has horseradish. I don't like horseradish much, although I do have some in the house. Can I make it without or something? I like meatloaf that's really tomato-y and has that great crust on top, you know?

The banana bread recipe is for dealing with half rotton fruit and in our house that never happens to more than a few bananas. Hence it is specifically designed for only having a few on hand. If you want "to die for" banana flavour you may want to consider another source.

The horseradish is the best part of the meatloaf so I do not stand behind making it without. I DO however stand behind the method of making it as a free form on the pan since this increases the crust surface area. I also love that glaze because it's sweet and sticky and sooooo yummy.

All right, so I'm gonna go with banana man's banana bread recipe and Reba's horseradish meatloaf (since I do agree with the whole glazy freeform thing, that sounds great). Tonight is leftover night, but I'll try at least one of these tomorry.
