I said meh! M-E-H. Meh.

My to-do list keeps growing. My ambition levels are relaxing somewhere down near the filthy floors and carpets of the apartment. I have cleaned and tidied almost everything (two weeks after getting here :p) except for a few things due to the following problems.

1) When I left we had a serviceable, although poor vacuum. Last Friday when I finally convinced myself to vacuum, the thing made the worst shriek that I have ever heard and shut itself off. So, I sat down on the floor and began to pull hair out of it (we had loaned it to someone with a cat...). 45 minutes and numerous almost-vomits later, I got the thing clean. It worked pretty well after that and I finished the bedroom and the dining room and began the living room. Just as I was starting the living room, the thing shrieked again and died. This time I thought that maybe I had kicked the power switch by accident so I switched it back on. Whoops! Flames shot, SHOT, out of the bottom of it, scaring Smeagol about 800 feet away (she has always hated the vacuum, now she will never forgive it). The flames stopped when I turned it back off, but I called Paul to ask if I should worry. He said that I shouldn't worry, but that I should put the vacuum on the back porch and 'for God's sake don't turn it on again'. So, we are down a vacuum and I didn't get to vacuum the worst part of the apartment. I have never had a good vacuum, one with a powerful motor, that doesn't weigh 100 pounds and maybe even has a HEPA filter for my allergies. Now, we will have to get a new vacuum eventually, so maybe this time!

2) When I left I had a swiffer and a selection of wet and dry cloths and a broom and dustpan. When I returned, I had a swiffer with no cloths and no broom or dustpan. So, I haven't cleaned the floors yet. (Money is gonna be really tight until we pay rent on Friday, after that we can go out and buy, at least, swiffer cloths)

3) I have cleaned the sink/mirror/vanity in the bathroom but have not yet been able to force myself to tackle the tub/toilet/floor.

The first two, obviously I have no control over, but the bathroom isn't clean just because I'm really damn lazy these days. Paul and I have been in sort of mini-honeymoon mode or something. Well, that's not right. It's not major romance around here or anything, its mostly just that neither of us are doing much. Paul is working a lot, and I'm cooking a lot (made really good curry chicken and a decent meatloaf this week so far) but other than that, we are mostly sitting around and watching TV and movies and then going to bed. Everything is in limbo AGAIN/still! I'm so damn tired of limbo and I've been like this for two years really. Neither of us are really talking to our friends or family as much as we should or really doing anything as much as we should, we're just kind of ...enjoying each other in preparation for being apart again. I'm working hard at trying to remain perky. Divorce papers #1 have arrived, divorce papers #2 have not yet.

One day, I may conceivably post some of the pictures I took in Canada.

The other day when Paul and I were debating what movie to watch, Paul suggested that we see '10 ways to kill John Harrigan'. It took us quite a while to figure out that he was referring to "John Tucker Must Die'.

Also the other day, Paul was groaning progressively louder beside me in bed. I finally asked him what was wrong and he said, sadly "I think I'm coming down with Stigmata!"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANGIE!! Welcome to your 30's (finally!).

I spit water all over the place with that 'stigmata' line. He's so funny.

Keep enjoying your time together! In the grand scheme of things, it's not that important if the house is spotless. I've come to terms with this a lot lately. I'd rather enjoy time with my son than worry about whether my house is super clean. But that's just me. Plus I'm lazy and hate to clean.

Thanks Jenn! *MWAA*

Hang in there, Sweetie.

I am also lazy and hate to clean. My friend pays $35 bi-weekly for a housekeeper to dust, do floors, do the bathroom. I think when we have a house I will somehow budget for that, because that seems really fricken awesome.

Anything holding up papers #2, or is it just a matter of patience?

$35 seems infinitely reasonable! I can definitely see that being worth it for you, Laz.

I'm not sure what is holding up the papers. We had a promise from the county clerk on the 18th of December that she would send them that day or the next. Of course, we still don't know if they will be acceptable since they are not 'originals'.

All the cool people get stigmata these days. I'm stuck with the sniffles.
