I finally printed out all of the forms required for the next stages of immigration. 44 pages. And just in the past hour or two as I began researching the process in earnest I have already come up with 4 questions about which I will have to call. Not to mention that each form costs a fortune to file.
But it will all be worth it in the end, just like the first batch was. I'm here now for good, we're married, we are insured (well health insurance starts in 3 weeks, thank God) and those are all things that at one point I was sure would never happen. So, this stuff will happen eventually too.
So, here's what happens now. I fill out a set of forms to remove the conditions of my current 'conditional permanent resident' status. I fill out another set to apply for a work permit so I can start earning money. I fill out several more sets of biographic information etc (even though I have done all the bio stuff I have to do it all again, same with the 'affadavit of support' paperwork) and photocopy basically every piece of paper that I own and send the whole shebang in. Assuming that I get approved for everything and manage to get some Canadian ID changed over to my new name, I then apply for a Social Security Card and then I can begin a regular life and work on getting a GA driver's licence and other state ID.
There's an update for ya, whether you wanted it or not :)

Good luck with all the paperwork. That's one of the reasons I don't look forward to the day when/if we decide to move back to the States, trying to get Robert permission to live and work there. It was so easy for me to move to Norway. *sigh*
By the way, Kim, I mentioned to Paul your comment of a while back in regards to 'cinnamon drinks' and he shuddered violently. He remembers well :)
Man, immigration sucked the big one BEFORE 9-11 and now it's just unbearable. I thought moving to NZ was a major pain in the ass (and expensive!), but it wasn't nearly this bad (getting the cat over there was the worst). Damn protected sheep.
