Things have been...intense around here lately. Its sort of hard to explain what is all going on but let's just say that none of it is serious or anything and that my level of tension is really REALLY high. I am grumpy and Paul is, in turns, GRUMPY and then happily making up ditties about his...well, you know.
In essence, though, things are going okay. We have sold numerous things on eBay now, which helped us to be able to pay our rent for August, which is good! Paul had a decent interview yesterday and wrote a test on Saturday which may enable him to move into a different career field. He is bartending and managing more at the restaurant and hardly serving, which is good cause its no fun and people don't tip well. We have had so many unexpected expenses though lately; like a tire that we suddenly realized was B-A-L-D, a fancy calculator that had to be purchased for the aforementioned test and a doctor's appointment for me.
The doctor's appointment was interesting. I went in with a batch of symptoms that were really worrying me and came out 3 1/2 hours later with a diagnosis of infection in my ears and possibly eustachian tube, which was, needless to say, not what I expected. I had to have my ears irrigated, which I haven't had to have done in a long time. Have you ever had that done? You must STOP USING Q-TIPS NOW LEST THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!! I'm really careful with Q-Tips and use them half as much as Paul but between their use and my allergies I managed to impact the hell out of my ears. So, for those of you who don't know, irrigating the ears is when a nurse has you hold a container under your ear and then shoots, SHOOTS, water and hydrogen peroxide into your ears with a giant syringe. She does this, in my experience, once or twice in each ear and you're done. But my ears were so bad that she had to do it at least 10 times in each ear. It took half an hour and it was awfulawful. It feels as though your entire brain is swimming in warm water and it gives you the superduper room spins. Paul came in with me and watched them do it and I asked him afterwards if the nurse was shooting the water in as hard as I thought and he said 'yeah she held the syringe with one hand and then punched down with the other hand to shoot the water in'. No Fun. This all had to be done because the doctor suspected ear infection but couldn't check because she couldn't see into my ear canal. After all this, I lay down for a while to wait for the doctor and when she came in she still couldn't see so she had to shove this long lighted stick into my brain, apparently, and get out whatever was in there so she could see in. I repeat, No Fun.
So, anyway, now I have antibiotics and decongestents and instructions to stay out of the sun and drink water at all times. We are currently uninsured so you can only guess what all of this cost...
I've been grumpy too because my 35th birthday is coming up (also known as the 'holy crap, I'm old and still don't have kids' birthday) and we don't have the money to do anything fun and also Paul is going away for the weekend the day after my birthday.
So to recap; busy AND bored at the same time, grumpy, disoriented, dizzy, broke, medicated. Ta-Da!
However!!! Today my mom and dad and sister and niece and nephew made a conference call to me to let me know that my sister Shari is coming to visit next week! This gets me a lot further away from my growing sense of isolation (Day 254 - Sense of isolation from lack of friends, car or ability to work grows. Rage level - Rising) and gives me something to really look forward to. Yay!

So glad to hear you are getting a family visit! That rocks!
Sorry to hear about the ear troubles....that doesn't sound like fun at all, that irrigation thing. I use q-tips constantly. Not just on me, but Bubba too, cause that boy produces enough ear wax for some gigantic candles, lemme tell ya.
Hope things look up for you soon. MWAH!
After reading this I saw the very same Qtip warning on TV. I did a little research on my own and lo-and-behold you most definitely should NOT stick one in your ear.
That being said, today is my first day not using a Qtip and it has me drove!!!! My ears feel oily and itchy and I am dying for just a little poke around in there.
This is as bad as quiting smoking :P

That's funny that you mention this, because just a few months ago (maybe longer? time is a blur) I had to go get my own ear irrigated because I had impacted it with a q-tip. I use them only seldom and I definitely don't PUSH on them! At least, not anymore. Hope you're doing better after all that :)
I'm not feeling any better really yet but I didn't realize how bad everything was, infection wise, until I started taking these mega decongestants. Now I'm wheezing and coughing and stuff and I realize I'm pushing out all the infection, which is good. I guess I felt SO terrible because someone was trying to tell me that I needed to go to the doc ASAP.
I feel gross not using Q-Tips either. I used to use them all the time until I had to start getting my ears irrigated and then I pretty much stopped. Over the years though I got back into it and sort of forgot. This irrigation was so much worse than the last ones that I'll never use them again. The doctor says that after your shower you should just tilt your head in each direction and gently pat so that anything loose will come out with the water...but I dunno, it feels icky not to use them.
I would definitely be careful with Bubba, though, Beachie..I would never want him to have to have his ears irrigated. It was no fun for me but for a little one it would be just dreadful. I dunno what you can do instead though...
Did you just get used to not using them, Laz?
I know this blog should be a total wake up call for me NOT to ever use Q-tips again (I, too don't use them that often, only when I feel like I really need to), but I can't imagine stopping! Both options are kinda gross! I guess my "risky" decision shouldn't be surprising...
I don't use them very often, but I still use them. Just gently :)
