When we go to bed at night, Paul always falls asleep moments after I say goodnight. Sometimes, before I say goodnight. It always amazes me because it takes me 30-45 minutes to fall asleep on a good day. I think that it is this way with a lot of males and females - the males can fall asleep sitting up in a chair and the females have to WORK at sleep. I wonder if its because men, as comedians are always telling us, have NO THOUGHTS in their heads, whereas women have 162 thoughts in their head at once. In case you are not one of those people with 162 thoughts in their head at a time, let me just review for you my thought process before bed. This was last night's:
I wish these stupid canines would settle down...what is that called, the whole canine or feline or whatever thing...Andrea would know...I wonder if its like phylum or genus or something...hmm, I wonder how many of those I can come up with...canine is dog...feline is cat...bovine is cow...porcine I think is pig...um...ursine I think is bear, yes it must be, cause of Ursa Major and Ursa Minor etc...good one...horse is equine...what else...huh, I wonder if quinine, the malaria medication comes from equines...what else ends in 'ine'...strychnine, but that's a poison, I wonder how many poisons I can name...strychnine, arsenic, cyanide...huh, on doctor shows they always talk about someone becoming 'cyanotic', I wonder if cyanosis is from the same root word as cyanide...I gotta look that up...LAPINE! I think that's rabbit...although maybe it...wait, what about lupine...I know that has to be wolf because of Lupin in Harry Potter and also because the disease lupus is named after that...what are these things CALLED?
And this goes on and on and on...

It takes me forever to fall asleep most nights, but I don't have thoughts like that going through my mind. I am normally thinking about all the things I need to do the next day, things I've already done that day, stuff like that.
I don't think I could have named all those 'ines' so goo for you!
Good for you, even.
That sounds about right to me. :P I can go on and on for hours in my head. I mean, I won't raalize it's hours until I actually look over at the alarm clock, but hubby has been snoring away pretty much the whole time.
I have no idea what those are called :) I have another for you though: ovine is sheep. Some days I do have thoughts racing around and have trouble sleeping, but if I'm truly tired I'll just fall asleep when my head hits the pillow. Cyanide and cyanosis have the root 'cyan' which means blue. I dunno what cyanide looks like, but cyanotic means something isn't getting oxygen and turns blue (fingernails, etc). Lupus -is- named after 'wolf' but I forget why... Hope this helps you sleep ;)
I'm too lazy to look it up right now but I believe that lupus is called that because way back people thought that the characteristic facial rash that people with lupus get looked like a wolf had bitten their face. Nice.
I used to have thoughts for the next day racing through my head but I pretty much eliminated...well, reduced that greatly by making to-do lists. I don't have to fret about remembering all the things that need to be done the next day if I've already written up a list. And I keep the notebook by my bed so that if I think of something else I can add it to the list and not fret about it constantly. That leave my mind free for insane person rambling!
*laugh* Rabbit is "lapin" not "lapine," but close enough! And oohhh Lupin *swoon*
That's pretty much it for us as well. My mind goes on and on at night and I have to keep training myself to just chill and focus on relaxing. Beau used to fall asleep MID-sentence (his, not mine), which always astonished me.
I used to always panic at night, because he's a big snorer too and I knew if i could JUST fall asleep before him, it would be okay, but he falls asleep SO fast...so of course, my panic would intensify when i didn't fall asleep instantly, of course, making it even HARDER to fall asleep...
You see where this is going...
Luckily, working as much as I do I fall asleep a lot faster now. So, there's a positive side to that!
Ryan and I both fall asleep almost immediately then both wake up continuously through the night. Also I wear earplugs every night due to his snoring. *sigh* the things we do for love.

These comments made me feel bonded with all of you. I spend like NO time with women anymore and this all made me realize again how we women need to stand together against the weirdness that is the male of the species.
I'd like to give the male thoughts on this subject:
Oh, sorry ... what was I talking about?
See!
