The 40 Year Old Virgin.
BEST MOVIE EVER! EVER!!
Paul and I will have to buy it, cause we anticipate watching it over and over and over again. So utterly hysterically funny, so sweet, good music, Paul Rudd *droooool*. Perfection in movie form.

I called my mom today to ask her a question about a family birthday and my dad picked up the phone. He was talking quietly, which I found out a few minutes later was because my mom was still napping, but because of the quiet talking I asked "Are you tired, Dad?"
"No, I don't get tired."
"I'm sorry, what?"
"I don't get tired."
"How is that possible"
"I don't know, I just don't"
(Incidentally, when my mom returned my call later, she mentioned that he also doesn't get hungry. And that the other day the bathroom door had been closed so he must have been going to the bathroom. This seeems like and odd thing to point out, but she noticed it and pointed it out because none of us have ever seen my dad excuse himself to go to the bathroom, or get up at night to go, or really go at all. Paul is now frightened that my dad is a zombie. Anyway.)
"Well, I don't know what to say, you must have been tired in your lifetime."
"Well, not for 10 years at least."
"Oh, back when we lived on the farm you got tired?"
"Yes. when it was very hot and I lifted bales all day, then I would sometimes get tired."
"You're almost 74. How are your children to live up to that kind of standard?"
"Oh goodness, they're not, nobody expects that."
Somehow, that made me feel a little better. My dad is super human, and having a father like that is wonderful, but difficult cause it kind of makes you feel like poop on the bottom of his shoe. Knowing that he doesn't expect people to have the kind of standards and abilities that he has is kind of nice. I always thought that he was disappointed that his daughters were human. Maybe not. I said goodbye and "I love you" and he replied with a mindboggling "I love you more".

I haven't seen it, because I was thinking it was fart humour too. I have come to learn that there is a level of comedy in between what I usually watch and the hideous 'Date Movie' from whose previews I cannot escape. This level is 'Anchorman' and evidently the '40 year old Virgin'. I'll give it a try sometime :) And Jenn, that's absolutely sweet about your dad. But you should know already that you don't have to live up to anyone else's standards than your own! I hope you continue to feel better physically and mentally. I think about you every day!
Laz, yes you are exactly right. Anchorman and 40 YO Virgin are much the same level of humor and un sophistication. I thought Virgin was WAY funnier than Anchorman, and I liked Anchorman.
Also, I agree on Date Movie. Those commercials make me wanna...I dunno, but do something evil to the people who think that's humour.
