Today is Good Friday...there seems to be an epidemic of people who do not even know what that is or why we call it that. In case you are on of those people...
Good Friday is the day that Jesus was crucified (if you believe in that sort of thing, which I do). We call it Good Friday because it is essentially the 'best' day in our religious history. Christianity is based on the fact that Jesus was willing to sacrifice himself for our sins. Sunday is then Easter, the day that Jesus rose from the grave. Although Christmas gets a lot more exposure, Easter is actually the most Holy day for a lot of religions, including my own.
As a child, one of my favourite Easter hymns went like this:
Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my saviour
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord
Up from the grave He arose
With a mighty triumph over His foes
He arose a victor from the dark domain
And He lives forever with the saints to reign
He arose
He arose
Hallelujah, Christ arose
A beautiful song.
I remember very clearly asking my mom why Jesus was lying in gravy "Low in the grave-he lay". And one of my other church-going friends remembers asking her parents why when Jesus arose, his name was Victor :p
A little (very little) comic relief on your Good Friday.
God Bless You :)

What religion will you and Paul raise your children under? Is he mennonite as well?
That's a good question! Paul is not Mennonite, he was raised to go to church and stuff, but does not have any particular desire to do so anymore. I am now a Mennonite by heritage only and not religion, so I would have to say that our plan is for me to take care of most of the religious aspects of our childrens' lives. I would prefer to take them to a non-denominational Protestant church. I do still love some of the Mennonite traditions though...I was raised in a Mennonite Brethren church and I would truly love for my kids to grow up singing the old fashioned hymns and stuff combined with some of the newer aspects of the faith. But this may be too much to ask for :p
