1) Amy has gone back home. We had a lovely visit, did some (well, I did some, she did lots!) shopping, visited the park, had some amazing meals, watched lots of movies. And she has already emailed me that she is home safely. More people come visit me!
2) Yesterday Paul was bugging me to do something and I didn't want to and he sighed dramatically and said "I'm sorry I'm such a tuckering burden". 'Tuckering burden' is my new favourite phrase.
3) After we took Ame to the airport yesterday I did 5 loads of laundry, 2 loads of dishes and hours worth of general cleaning and tidying. I even cleaned/washed all of Smeagol's toys (which, btw, the new dryer is great for. It has this little shelfy deal that you can put in if you don't want whatever you're drying to tumble. It dried her stuffed animals in like 15 minutes and they came out bright and clean and not destroyed which is what tumble drying does for them. Also, we save a lot of energy with the new dryer, things dry in just over half as long as in the old one. Woot!). And, of course, the immigration papers are in. SO! WTF do I do now?!?!
4) In relation to that last notation, I tried one of Paul's Sudoku puzzles. Ame gave me my first clue on how to do them, so now I am obsessed. Well, obsessed in the sense that I gave up on the first one and haven't yet completed the second one but really want to.
5) Pauly just called from work (he goes in earlier a lot now to audit cheques) to tell me that he gets to go take his 'key test' tomorrow! That is yet another promotion for him *beams with pride*. He started as a server (which he still does cause the tips are great, but the other stuff goes along with that), then became a headwaiter, then a certified trainer, then started auditing cheques, and will now be a key. There are, I think 3 other keys, and they are third in command of the restaurant. His (our) goal is to be manager within 12 months and proprietor within 5 years. If/when he actually makes manager, our money problems will, well, not disappear, but be GREATLY reduced. YAY PAULY!
6) Ame and I went to Payless while she was here. I only have 4 pairs of shoes and 2 of them were about to give up the ghost so I needed a new pair. I found a pair of blue suede runners (okay so they're not that practical) that were on sale since there were only two pairs left in the store. They are half a size too big but they were only $11! For real suede! And it was 'buy one, get the second half price' so I went in with some other lady in the store. Thus, I got a pair of blue suede shoes for $8. Now that's a bargain! (unfortunately, I had to throw one pair of my old shoes away the next day cause they had already been falling apart and it rained so much while Ame was here that I soaked them twice and that ended their life. Then yesterday I wore my other casual shoes and discovered that the lining is coming apart, making me feel like I'm always walking on a bumpy surface, so they're not long for this world either. Poo) (Also, that is the lamest story ever)
7) Today is exactly 4 months til my birthday and exactly 8 months til Christmas Eve - Start Shopping Now!

Wow, I didn't know that (restaurant work being one of the few jobs I haven't tried). I figured out Paul's per year earnings a while ago, of course approximately as tips vary, and it is almost exactly half of what he would make as a manager.
Now, re the shoes! its not that I wouldn't -like- more pairs of shoes, but it seems that I have been broke for so long that shoe purchasing goes down the drain. Also, and this is a little weird, in some ways I despise having so few shoes and clothes, I really do need substantially more, however, my semi OCD-ness somehow compels me to want to wear a pair of shoes (for example) until they literally fall apart, and then replace them. I have often worn a pair of shoes into the store and chucked them there and walked out in the new ones. I can't explain this compulsion, if you can, please feel free to let me know!
Reba, they don't do that taking tax off for tips here. That blowblowblows!
